A hand carved stool inspired by Dokkaebi (도깨비): a mythical being in Korean folklore. Dokkaebi is a creature with supernatural powers who disguises itself into a fire. Although Dokkaebi is famous for their mischievous pranks, they also have friendly and good-humored side. Dokkaebi can bring good harvest, big catches & great fortunes to humans, and are defenders against evil spirits. This is the first stool I have made at RISD and is meant to wish good fortune.
Each leg is carefully hand carved out of one piece of wood. No additional piece attached.
