I Love, I Hate My Body

Description:

I created these ephemeral bodysuits of love and hate during Nikki Juen's Design course, second semester RISD. We were challenged to make two pieces using the sentence "I love ______. I hate _______." Both blanks had to be filled with the same word.

Clean eating gives me a false sense of security around the body, producing positive feelings like accomplishment and beauty. A diet of traditionally unhealthy foods like McDonalds left me feeling shameful, indulgent, and exposed.

Media:

Swiss chard, loofas, McDonalds, string, medical gauze, carrots

Thank you to Philip Lau and Angela Kwon for helping me extensively with photography: photo creds!
