This series is for the Chinese translated version of the famous novel When Marnie was there, written by Joan G. Robinson.
When Marnie Was There, is a 2014 Japanese animefilm written and directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, produced by Studio Ghibli. It was the final film for Studio Ghibli before they announced that the film division is taking a short hiatus after the box office disappointment of The Tale of Princess Kaguya, and the retirement of Hayao Miyazaki a year before the film was released.
I was so happy and thankful when I received the email from the art director from China. I tried not to look at the concept art of this beautiful animation film so that I can get the idea and imaginations directly from words, to make my version be apart from the popupar animation.
It is a beautiful, quiet, and whimsical story about love and friendship.
