"Fellowship of Heroes" (relief x screenprint, 18 x 24)

Fellowship of Heroes
For my final exploration of my theme of using fantasy as a means of escapism, I wanted to create something more personal to my own relationship with the theme. While escapism can be seen as an isolating term, my experience in playing fantasy games such as Dungeons & Dragons has only brought me closer to people I consider my good friends, so I wanted to depict each of them as well as myself in the fantasy setting we all play in, as the characters we play.
This project is a series of six unique relief prints. They were created with one linoleum block (18 x 24,) with a screenprinted secondary color layer on top. This project took around a month to complete.
I also spoke with some of my friends that I play Dungeons & Dragons with as a means to escape reality, and here’s what they said:

“My favorite part is making the character/story. It’s pretty cool to design a character in a story or the story itself and have it tailor made to how you want to tell it. It’s like acting or story-telling without the pressure/investment.”
