Bamboo Frame of Folding Fan

After watched Oriental way to make a folding fan, I decide to use a part of a split bamboo from my chopping board as the fan ribs. The bamboo chopping board, having been used for several months, is likely more stable than fresh bamboo. The basic method involved planing it to thin it out, followed by using a metal brush and sandpaper to further thin it down. Since bamboo is more resilient than wood, it can be sanded down to 1-2mm thickness. As the material was pieced together, I obtained pieces of approximately 2cm * 20cm to be laser-cut into the desired shapes.
One of the steps in making the fan involves using thread to bind and secure the shape of the bamboo. The process of thread-binding the bamboo adds a sense of craft beauty to the production process. It's worth noting that I used sandpaper to sand down the upper half of the bamboo sticks to a thickness of 1mm, as the upper half needed to leave space for the fan surface.
The bamboo itself has a natural texture. Through experimentation, I found that engraving patterns perpendicular to the texture yields better results. If the engraving is done parallel to the texture, the pattern tends to get lost within the bamboo's grain.
