Hejduk’s Masques
Graphite & Paper, Rhinoceros & Illustrator
Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art
As part of assignments about learning to draw, students were asked to pick from John Hejduk’s extensive collection of “Masques,” works of architectural theater populated by forms, in which characters were clothed as houses, so that actors spoke to one another like buildings in a city.
We were asked to pick up on certain aspects or characteristics of these masques and to project them using techniques of drawing representation learnt in that class.
