Ten Thousand Meters Under the Sea

The deep sea is an environment completely unfriendly to humankind; it represents one of the least explored areas on Earth. Because of the difficulty and cost of exploring this zone, current knowledge is limited. This not only makes great depths very difficult to reach without mechanical aids, but also provides a significant difficulty when attempting to study any organisms that may live in these areas. Because of the darkness, coldness and the extreme pressure, scientists once assumed that life would be sparse in the deep ocean but virtually every probe has revealed that, on the contrary, life is abundant in the deep ocean. How to let people explore mysterious deep sea by overcome the physical obstacles becomes a question. In this project, the new Boston aquarium subway station is using architectural way to help people experience the deep ocean.
Aquarium Station is a subway station on the MBTA Blue Line (Which is the deepest station on the Blue Line), serving the New England Aquarium and Boston’sFinancial District. The Atlantic Avenue Elevated opened on August 22, 1901, including a stop at State Street. Atlantic Avenue station opened in the tunnel on April 5, 1906. And it was renamed Aquarium on February 13, 1967, as part of a general rebranding by the newly created MBTA. In 2004 year, a new permanent entrance was placed on State Street west of Atlantic Avenue.
To date, we have explored less than five percent of the ocean.
The ocean is the lifeblood of Earth, covering more than 70 percent of the planet's surface, driving weather, regulating temperature, and ultimately supporting all living organisms. Throughout history, the ocean has been a vital source of sustenance, transport, commerce, growth, and inspiration. Yet for all of our reliance on the ocean, 95 percent of this realm remains unexplored, unseen by human eyes, especially about the deep sea area.
The transformation of the enclosure.
The axono-explosion of the existing and the new surface.
