The Microcosm City

Redesigning Waverley House as an arts and ecotherapy retreat for stressed and lonely workers for the purpose on preventing and improving mental and physical health that allows individuals to stay up to a month, whilst bringing the community together in an upcoming urban area of Bournemouth, through nature and active design, to aid health and wellbeing.

Software Used: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Twinmotion, InDesign, Photoshop, ProCreate

This project was created as the final project of my degree.
Welcome Space
The retreat and community hub acts a city within itself to integrate the arts and ecotherapy, with the main open areas designed to feel as though you are outside with pockets of 'green spaces' within.
This diagram shows the problems raised and how the design has overcome these
EXTERIOR
The sensory gardens located at the rear of the building with a ramp going up to the welcome area on the first floor
Within the design, the dynamic facade is a key element where it controls the temperature and ventilation within the building thus saving energy. The panels, located on the South East face, are made from photovoltaic cells to simultaneously create energy as well as reducing energy consumption.
