Inside Track Vancouver

The theme for SAP Inside Track Vancouver 2013 was big data and the identity had to incorporate this. Since this identity was specifically for Vancouver, it also needed to have some aspect of the city.

My idea was to incorporate four buildings that are unique to Vancouver and are easily recognizable. The challenging part was incorporating big data. Vancouver is known for it’s landscape so it felt natural that big data should be represented through mountains. I created memory chip style mountains overlooking the city to emphasize big data.
My process includes a combination of low and high fidelity sketches and I aim for doing a hundred. The challenge for this project was to create an identity within a period of two days. In that short timespan, I managed to modify my design process and create fifty sketches. I iterated on the strongest which I felt represented SAP, big data, and Vancouver.
One of the iterations before the final design. The mountains represent big data using stacked documents. It was later modified to memory chip mountains.
