I was born in Wisconsin, but grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. I attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a BFA in Textile Design. After completing my undergraduate studies, I moved to Greensboro, NC to work as an upholstery designer for Burlington Industries. My career as a textile designer continued throughout the years in the Carolinas. I worked for Cotton Incorporated, Springs Global, and Springs Creative. In 2012 I began working as an independent freelance designer, and in 2013 I entered the graduate program at Winthrop University. The current focus for my MFA is sculpture and drawing. In my sculptural work I am interested in the personification of "objects" and exploring gender references, as well as creating narrative scenarios with unusual materials. I most often work with textile materials such as fabric and yarn or thread. My current interest is transforming materials in a way that is unexpected of the inherent properties. Other artists of influence include Ann Hamilton, Karin Van Dam, Judy Pfaff, Eva Hesse, Richard Deacon, and Cy Twombly. Read Less
