The final project of the Fall 2011 semester required us to make a garment out of recycled materials. I made this dress from shoelaces found at the local recycling center and piano strings used by a junior for a previous project. The shoelaces make up a majority of the piece; the piano strings were only used for the two circular rings in the back.
The knotting seen throughout the dress is more commonly known as macrame, which I learned from various books. I learned a few of the most basic knots and then altered them slightly to create completely different knots.
