Peeling Paint Outfit
2011
Various Types of Plastics
Composed of "Blue Wrap" used for sterilizing medical tools, bubble wrap, and plastic bags, the jacket, skirt, and top were inspired by the peeling walls of paint in Bermuda. One layer of blue peels away to reveal another layer of orange paint. From a material standpoint, my goal was to use as little thread and usual sewing materials as possible. I melted all the seams together with an iron and reinforced the "blue wrap" or plastic bags with bubble wrap. I also explored plastics in acrylic paint for the orange color.
