Description
I received a joint Brown International Scholars Program fellowship with Matthew Block'13 to go to Iceland to conduct research for summer 2012. I worked with local artists to learn their approach to their respective fields. I spent significant time visiting museums, galleries, concert halls and other places where I could see local art and meet local artists. Over the course of two months Matthew Block and I carried out this research in Reykjavik and a number of small towns around the entire coast of Iceland. I documented the natural phenomena such as glaciers, geysers, volcanoes, boiling mud pots and geothermal vents. Currently, I am creating large scale works on the photographs of these Icelandic landscapes and combining them with textile patterns.
