I made these earrings to be polar opposities of each other and to rethink the way an earring can form itself to (or away from) the human body. They evoke forms present in nature, like branches and vines, and counter each other visually, with one forming to the face and the other "exploding" away. Construction involved a combination of solder and forming based on the angles encountered in the face and head.
These pieces were made during the Jewelry Introduction studio in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing department at the Rhode Island School of Design in the spring of 2012.
