My work, Enclosure, in collaboration with Boston-based sound producers TOOMS (Philip Fryer and Ryan Stanis), at the exhibit Todo Bajo Control in Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, Boston, MA.
Enclosure explores the connection between the symbolic cultivation of plants and the space it exists in, suggesting a narrative of a person who is tied to the caring of these plants in the system he has created for himself. Similarly, TOOMS mixes original and found audio footage—often from natural sources like water and wind—creating droning, beatless landscapes mixed live via cassette tapes. The installation will stir up several contemporary questions: can we truly control the wild, or must we allow some things to remain untouched by technology?
