In the work “Second Nose” I am satirising the modern-day culture of plastic surgery where the growing trend for young people today is to chase “the perfect image”.
But can this current “standard” of beauty suit everyone?
I made a fake nose using scrap metal and some upturned brass sheet. This represents the “reconstructed” DNA that plastic surgery tries to artificially achieve, the pearls adding a hint of delicacy and beauty but in an ironic way. This raises the question of the true value of feeling the need to decorate our true DNA.
