Being inspired by the philosophy ‘culturally diverse’ which having similarities with south-east Asia context sesame street is one of the most famous characters in the universal studio, and it shows different characteristics of each char- acter. This reminiscent the different cultures in Southeast Asia country. The layout was inspired by sesame street apartment, and it had a gathering area surrounded by the apartment. It looks like a courtyard that is unique in South- east Asia. The interior space was continued using the idea of the apartment, which make each of the containers looks like a space in the apartment, for example, living room, bed- room, etc.
The courtyard is a unique architectural element that can be easily found in south-east Asia. The courtyard is a common area and usually located in the middle of building for the residence to rest, communicate among each other; it acted as a role of the small community.
The usage of the courtyard is to bond the relationship be- tween everyone. It is circumscribed area that allows people to play, work, relax during their free time. This culture can easily be spotted in south-east Asia country, whether in the residential or commercial building.
By applying the idea of the courtyard into the design, make it become a significant element in the Universal Studio in Singapore.
