These sketches were made for an urban renewal project for the french town of Coignieres, on the outskirts of Paris. Coignieres suffers today from the heavy traffic on National Road 10 that runs through the town, dividing it in two poorly linked sides. The aim of this urban study is to demonstrate how the transformation of the urban highway into a generous boulevard, with trees lined along large cycling lanes and footpaths, while the road width is reduced to the required minimum, can improve the everyday life of inhabitants. We also believe that this transformation would encourage the redevellopment of the nearby urban fabric in a more pedestrian-oriented approach.
