I try to draw at least one portrait every day - cheap bic ballpoint pen, micron fineliner or graphite. Sometimes combined with colored pencils or crayons. 

My comfort zone style is more stylized and cartoony  - so I challenge myself with more a more realistic approach in this personal project.
