Follow the Sun Pavilion: LA 2028 Summer Olympics “Finish Line (Marathon & Playground)”

The function of my pavilion is to draw more spectators to the Olympic marathon start/finish line sited at LA city hall, through a series of paths and lookouts, at which one can view the runners. It is constructed of painted wood, and engages the Olympic games concept—LA 2028 is about what we have, not what we’re going to build—by having a life post olympics as a playground. The pavilion engages the Olympic and local communities through out the entire course (26.2 miles) with a vibrant color scheme, and a mega graphic translated from the pavilion down to the street level. It will further engage the the local community post Olympics, as an unrolled section transformed into a play space in near by Grand park.

Temporality of a pavilion vs. long term playground space
