Giacomo Puccini's Tosca Opera Poster

Important Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I was not able to take a good suitable photo so I found it on Behance. The photograph that I used does not belong to me. All rights of the photograph belong to Dmitry Fomenko (https://www.behance.net/m-art-in337d).

In this project, we were asked to design an opera poster. Operas were decided by a draw. It had to be eye-catching, informative, contemporary, and conceptual.

My draw was Giacomo Puccini's Tosca. It was a drama which was about some unfortunate events that Tosca tackled that ended up by her death. In one of those events, she had to kill the chief of police with a knife in order to defend herself. That is why I used a red knife figure. I placed it on her eye to give a warpaint effect because she has a fighter spirit. I decided to use the photograph black and white to give a dramatic effect. Then, I played with some brush effects which were giving a vanishing out effect to reference the ending. I tried a lot of typographic games with the title and then I got inspired by famous typographer Paula Scher's works.
