A L L U R E

This was the last project done in my bachelor degree. From there my projects aim to be a central hub for the community of Ponsonby, New Zealand where the size and grandeur of the structural and elements attract various visitors to the building. The brief had the students looking at a multi functional building with both functions being starkly different.

Conceptual ideas came from firstly hand drawing then evolved to digital manipulation of the images. This lead to the idea of the eel trap which was local to the area, thus the start of the “lure”. Firstly in function and secondly in structure.

With function consisting of a community swimming pool of 15 but 30 meters and its surrounding features, flexible communal theatre space and large open decks, the space is very open. By following the natural sloping contours of the sight, the building is very flat, with the immediate attracting towards the vertical glass elements. Major Features include the super coffer roof made with steel that covers the building and the glazed cone.
