Lana Del Rey Typographic Poster

This was an assignment for the New York Institute of Art and Design's Graphic Design program.

The assignment was to create a poster for an event, with type as the main element. I created two designs, but only submitted the first (the one consisting purely of text, as it adhered to the requirements more than the second design).

The design process for this poster required a lot of brainstorming, as typography was, before this poster, not my strongest skill. I played around with different arrangements until I decided to simply type out Lana’s name in large, bold letters, emphasizing it. To add interest and balance, I wrote her name in two offset lines. To balance the poster further, I included a block of text perpendicular to her name which consisted of her song lyrics from her newest album (which, for this event, she would be performing live).

The colors all complement each other, with emphasis added to Lana’s name, the event time, and the event place. The speckled texture adds interest to the piece without taking away from the typographic elements and the important information.
