Castello Del Cinghiale, meaning Castle of the Wild Boar in Italian, is named for the cinghiale that roam the hills of Cortona. As ancient stories tell, the wild boar have an affinity for wine and grapes.  Castello Del Cinghiale features local savory flavors of black truffle, rosemary, pecorino cheese and of course, wild boar.

The 43,11 Vineyards are run using environmentally conscious practices from start to finish.  The 80 hectares of regional Sangiovese grapes are harvested organically, helping to maintain the rolling hillsides and lucious nature of the area.  Gravity-flow vinification gently moves these grapes throughout the fermentation process down to the final settling stages in the cellar.
Ramps circulate through the six-story wine making facility, allowing guests to see how the aromatic 43,11 wine is created from the time grapes are handpicked to the exciting moment when the wine itself is uncorked for your enjoyment.

First, Second & Third Floor Plans of Villa

Guests are offered a variety of ways to experience the 43,11 Vineyards from an overnight stay in one of the villas to unique events and tours of the winery.  Seven villas are scattered throughout the hillsides just north of Cortona.  Each villa is secluded, but within close proximity to both the winery and Cortona.  In addition, the Franciscan Santuario, Le Celle, the famous Cortonese hermitage of St. Francis, is located slightly north of the winery and attracts many visitors to the area.
