David H. Koch Hall of Fossils — Deep Time

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History → The Smithsonian is posed to be a world leader in understanding global change and encourages society to learn from the past and how humans are changing the future.

David H. Koch Hall of Fossils — Deep Time → This exhibit takes you through a journey through time. An experiential timeline outlining 4.6 billion years of global change — an integrated perspective bringing together collections and insights from seven science departments: Paleobiology, Mineral Sciences, Botany, Entomology, Vertebrate Zoology, Invertebrate Zoology,
and Anthropology.

Role & Responsibilities → Under the tutelage of the Reich&Petch principals and senior exhibit designers I helped with the design development of environmental graphics within the exhibit. Responsibilities included designing graphic elements, script flow, signage, schematic maps, illustrative/image procurement, and graphic production.

The continuous flow of life and time is one of the most important concepts of the Hall, reinforced throughout the interpretive spaces with colourful, sculptural graphic installations, expressing key messages at each platform.
At specific points, exhibits are disrupted by dramatic, sculptural Extinction Walls. The design expresses the central message: Life flows powerfully forward; dramatic extinctions disrupt and life re-sets – but is never the same.
