Taanbaan has had a long journey over a decade and more under the guidance of Rta Kapur Chishti. The organization has, even over such a long period, managed to retain the virtue of the handspun, handwoven desi cotton and various weaving techniques, and uphold a superior level of craftsmanship.
The objective of this project was to communicate to patrons, the value of this piece of living history, and the meaning it holds for the hands that carefully create it. The phrase 'बनाने वाले ने फुर्सत से बनाया है' in Hindi, which perfectly captures its essence, was to be reflected in the pictures and the words. The purity, the serenity, calmness, composedness of the environment that it is made in is felt by anyone holding it, and the desire to so it needed to be kindled.
The words were written by Rta Ji, while I took photographs, made the composition, and illustrations.
