Exercise #1 The Dynamics of Structure
The objective for this assignment is to study the structural relationship of
geometric shapes within a given format for optimum design, arrangement, or
organization.
Exercise #2 Expressive use of Lines
The purpose of this exercise is to explore a wide range of line characteristics such as: orientation, direction, calligraphic, contour, hatching, cross-hatching, width, length; to apply the Principles of Design and composition.
Exercise #3 Introduction to Illustrator CC and Typography
The objective is to appreciate the many exciting shapes created by characters. I must first become aware of them as design elements. I need to examine the shapes/spaces inside the characters (negative space) as well as in between the characters.
Exericse #4 Typography and the
Principle of Emphasis + Illustrator CC
For this exercise the objective is to create a focal point (the principle of Emphasis) by utilizing the concepts of: positive and negative space relationships, variety and contrast, proportion and composition.
Project #1 Chromatic Value Scale
The objective for this project is to improve handling of our
materials, craftsmanship, gain familiarity with value
relationships.
1. To create TINTS using white, and SHADES using black.
(no TONES)
2. To improve understanding of the design principles and
elements.
Project #2 Monochromatic and
Asymmetric Design
The objective for project 2 is to create a design to
demonstrate the illusion of deep space using a
Monochromatic color scheme.
Project #3: Original Design
with Emphasis
For our final project the objective was to create a singular, asymmetric, original design utilizing the Principle of Emphasis/Focal Point, and using either a
Analogous color palette or Complementary color palette.
Book Binding
I learned to sew a 3-hole pamphlet stitch, a 5-hole pamphlet stitch and also Japanese book binding.
