Editorial concept, artistic direction and book design for one of Cirque du Soleil's most beloved creations, Alegria. Alegria is is one of Cirque's classic entertainment shows, having first toured the world over a decade ago, and which has recently been re-created for a contemporary audience. Alegria tells the story of a kingdom that emerges from darkness to light after a power struggle between the old and new order. The artistic direction, editorial concept and overall design direction revolve around duality: classic / modern, darkness / light, depth / humour, all the while portraying the intricate layering of the characters, acrobats, iconic musical soundtrack and poetic storyline.
