Insects, thunders, and storms destroy tree trunks and leaving mottled, which contributed to the formation of agarwood.
This work shows that three stag beetles are gathering the tree sap in their own habitat for survival, however, this behavior might cause the agarwood to be formed, so humans regard this coincidence as a treasure. Such magical creativity of nature!
Agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world. It is formed in the heartwood of aquilaria trees when they become infected with a type of mold.
Prior to infection, the heartwood is odourless, relatively light and pale coloured; however, as the infection progresses, the tree produces a dark aromatic resin called agar, in response to the attack, which results in a very dense, dark, resin-embedded heartwood.
