YouCase: Prosthetic customizable case

YouCase: Prosthetic customizable case

My colleagues and I believe that design can be a bridge that allows people with amputations cross towards a reconstruction of their self-esteem and a path towards accepting themselves as they are.

This is why we created YouCase, a way to personalize an amputee’s inferior prosthesis. We focused on making our solution viable, affordable and totally customizable.

¿How did we do it?
We divided our product in two: One is a transparent plastic case that is attached to their prosthesis and each user can wear daily.

The other is a set of designs that can be printed on a vinyl and fit their personal case. Each user can then easily change the design whenever they want, without having to change the case.

Final product

In addition, we developed the concept of a web page where the user can buy their case and choose from a wide variety of designs or create their own design.

Participation in Mexico City´s Design Week 2019
YouCase competed in the program "Inédito" as part of Design Week. There, projects on social and environmental impact, innovation, function, aesthetics, user experience, materials, and processes were exhibited.
