Comparing the fading process of fugitive natural dyes on fabric with the mold patterns on rotting   fruit, this rug, like the Dutch Master’s vanitas, is looking for beauty in ephemeral cycles found in nature.

The pink fibres in this rug were all hand dyed in a fugitive (meaning they will fade in the sun) fruit dye.  Like a fine wine, this rug must age. In 5-10 years  the pink fibres will have faded to different shades of off white. The rug that started off as depiction of ripe fruit will age to show the unique beauty found in mold.
