Proposal 1: Crossbody canvas tote bag with convenient pouch for rulers
Influences / Inspiration: fanny packs worn across the body, canvas tote bags with sections to hold art supplies
Description: The crossbody canvas tote bag is designed to conveniently hold art supplies including long rulers securely. The bag is worn similarly to a fanny pack strapped across the chest. The material would be beige canvas fabric so that artists are encouraged to customize it to their liking. The strap of the bag has a fastener for the convenience of putting the bag on and off. The primary function of this bag is to securely hold the bag with its materials of various sizes close to the user’s body, as opposed to a regular tote bag that may slip off the user’s shoulder easily.
Proposal 2: Desk Pod
Influences / Inspiration: Circular pod furniture, hanging chairs, privacy dome desk
Description: The desk pod consists of circular furniture, similar to a circular couch. It has a desk attached to the inside of the pod that slides open so the user can sit inside and use the workspace. The dome-like features of this desk would give the user much needed privacy especially while people are in self quarantine and trying to avoid their family members. This desk would also be useful in public libraries. The pod also has cushioning inside that helps with posture and back pains. This workspace is designed to encourage people to stay focused and away from the comfort of their beds. With the switch to online classes many students and at-home workers are spending more time on their laptops throughout the day, which could cause more back pain and strains on posture. This pod is designed to solve those problems.
