Symmetry in Design

In design, symmetry can be an effective tool to communicate messages such as comfort and safety, for instance. My goal in this project was to communicate those messages using different types of symmetry.
While making this project, I noticed that I was making something akin to a design for a pillow of some sort. Thus, I wanted to create something that would look "comfortable" to a viewer. This choice also made me go with a pastel color pallet.

The first image is supposed to represent reflection. Reflection is one of the most recognizable forms of symmetry.

The second image is supposed to represent rotation. Although I had the most fun creating this piece, I did have some difficulty how much detail I should add. I think I made the best decision by not including a "background" of some sort.
The third piece represents glide reflection. I'd say this one was more tedious to make, but I think I got the idea across. I wanted to make some sort of tessellation-esque pattern.
The final image here is supposed to represent translation. Not much to be said here...other than I was inspired by fish scales.
