In the Myths of Bunun Tribe, the tribe were flooded out once. When people ran away, the tinder has been left behind at home. Although toad and crow had gone on a journey for the tinder, both of them were fail.
One day, a little pretty bird called Haipis, told people it would bring back the fire, then the bird flew away. Several days passed, Haipis appeared with a tinder, but its bright feathers darkened by smoke, its beak and claws turned into red by fire. After that, Bunun Tribe has given respects to Haipis since then.

The ancestors of Thau tribe had hunted high and low for days, but they didn’t find any prey.One night, a strange white deer popped up in front of them,they were so thrilled that everyone hold arrows, knifes again and then followed the deer.However, no matter how fast they ran, none of them were able to be close to the deer. When they were too tired to move, it jumped into a big lake and disappeared.

At that night, the group leader had a dream about the deer which recommended he and his people stay at this place. After waking up, the leader discussed with his fellows.Then they took their family to this place. The whole Thau tribe has lived a happy life since they moved here.
