The VISOR / MADRON
CHARACTER DESIGNER & ILLUSTRATOR
This is a double BAFTA nominated project created for S4C based on an animated piece for television that serves as an introduction, and accompanying for an online comic book/mobile app (first interactive comic in Welsh!) which tells the rest of the story. It won the Commendation for Artistic Achievement at BAFTA Cymru June 2015.
I worked mainly as a character designer and illustrator for the entire project with PLANET JUMP (an Animation Production Company based in North London)
Some modelsheet and concepts for the main characters of the series: Seren Sawyer and Ishmael Jones. Both characters are teenegers but with totally different and contradictory personalities, which made the development of their relationship along the story really interesting. Seren is a young girl who lives alone with her dad. Her mother left home years ago and She has learnt to take care of herself. She is emotionally driven, headstrong, confident and streetwise. On the other hand we have Ishmael, looked after by coddling parents, he is cerebral, academic, analytical, shy and cautious. He’s a bit nerdy and the kind of guy who over- thinks every decision and has a nervous disposition.

Some of the panels I illustrated and colored for the interactive online comic. Due to really tight deadlines we decided along the preproduction that we will go for a kind of rough lines and edges, clear colors and basic rendering; simplifying the panels as much as we can with the use of silhouettes and contrasting shapes.
