ART 121 Positive & Negative Shapes

For this assignment, we needed to create thumbnails to find compositions we liked from a large still life (not pictured at Miami). These compositions needed to have good positive and negative space to make them interesting and unique. Choosing four to move forward with, we used sighting and measuring to accurately draw the still life. After completing the drawing, we used black and white paint to fill in the positive and negative spaces. The composition in the bottom left was from a still life that I created myself. This project taught me a lot about composition and the importance of positive and negative space.
