This project was my first taste at the school of fine arts and metalsmithing at The University of Kansas. While creating the tapers out of round wire, I drew inspiration from the creepy aesthetic of the hammer marks and soot caused from forging and annealing the metal. I then bent the tapers around the nose of the anvil to create the legs. To construct the body, I annealed the copper sheet, then formed it using a bowling ball and a sand bag. Once I shaped the body and legs, I created a hinge from some of the scrap copper and secured everything together with round wire rivets.
