Shelby Farms Park
Located just outside of Memphis Tennessee, Shelby Farms Park is one of the country’s largest urban parks. In addition to a visitors center and restaurants, the park features trails, lake sports & activities, horseback riding, a treetop adventure course, buffalo range and more.
As part of it’s multimillion dollar renovation and expansion, the park required an updated signage program to help identify and direct users to main entrances, parking, and destinations within. As the park area is vast, more than five times the size of New York’s Central Park, a wayfinding strategy was developed to subdivide the park into named zones simplifying messaging and making the park’s size more manageable to visitors. Since completion of the improvement project park attendance has doubled.
