Using the short story written by Joe Fielder and Ken Levine, I designed 'The Psychology of Dissent,' a true Columbia artifact. Design included material selection, page layout and design, and illustration/doodling in the margins. In addition to designing the physical book, I also designed the simple digital cover for the Amazon downloadable copy.

 

The vintage parcel packaging included the envelope design and the sticker.

The Comstock House logo was provided by the development team, which I then made into a vector image for the interior letterhead and stamp on the front cover.

Above: Various doodling and scrawling work was originally inked with India ink and my nib set, then scanned and cleaned up, and the dropped into the various margins.

A lot of the doodles were of head shapes and skulls, as the book makes multiple references to phrenology.

Many of these doodles included fake text and scribbled nonsense. Some also included words and phrases for the margins of the book (not all of them I felt exactly fantastic about jotting down).

Any excuse to draw skulls, I'll take it.
