I have heard many interpretations about what is being communicated through this project. I'm not going to go into detail about any of them for the time being.
I began this project during my first semester at RISD in the fall of 2012 for my Spatial Dynamics class. We were assigned to make something either sculptural or functional used 100, 500, 1000, or 5000 of any one thing. I decided to make something both functional (as an article of clothing) as well as sculptural. When this image was taken there were roughly 4000+ toy soldiers (now there are more but I have lost count).
