The Temple University program provides students with the opportunity to study in Japan’s capital city while learning alongside students from 60 other countries.

Temple University’s mission is to provide students with exposure to international relations and global issues intermixed with aspects of Japanese traditional and popular culture. Alongside the university’s normal academic program, its study abroad program offers fall, spring, and 10-week summer courses. Students can take courses in the humanities, business, media studies, history, and other disciplines, which culminate in degrees in the same areas. International students also study alongside Japanese students, and for students not fluent in Japanese, they can take most courses in English, except for language courses.

Opened in 1982, Temple University has been considered the oldest and largest one in Japan, in addition to being the first to be recognized by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. Of the 3,900 students enrolled yearly, approximately 60-120 students are a part of the study abroad program. The faculty is comprised of nearly 200 professionals from Japan, the US, and around the world.
