principle of design ceramic project 2/7/2020

describe:

This piece is made using clay. The piece consists of a face. Half of the face in covered in a diamond pattern. On the side of the face there is butterfly wings. The wings also have the same diamond pattern on them. 

Analyze:

the principle of design in this piece is pattern. Pattern is clearly seen in the diamond pattern on the face and on the butterfly wings on the side of the face. Also there is form becase it is a three dimensonial piece. For this piece i refernced alot of the party mascarade masks that i found on pintrest.

Interpretation:

Since the Venetian era masquerade maks have been used at parties by the wealthy to hide their identies and escape the sterotypes of the wealthy population.  They used them to socialize with commeners at parties and were assiocated with elegance regality. The masks were used at balls, Grand parties, and festive celebrations.

judge:

overall i like how this piece is coming our so far. i like the details ive added like the pattern and the buterfly wings. I also like that i chose to make it more cartoon like instead of making it more realistic. Also i think im doing a pretty good job at blending out the clay.
