Probability
Personal project:
A short comic created during elective week in Tartu Art School.
The name of the subject was Finno-Ugric comic and we were taught that since we are a part of that culture, anything we would put on paper would be Finno-Ugric.
We were given about 15 minutes to come up with our initial idea. My inspirations were first and foremost a short poemlike thought roughly translated to:
light on
running water
a carefree person behind the shower curtain
occupied with cleansing rituals
light goes out
door opens
shower curtain pulled to the side
intruder with closed eyes
reaching their hand
hoping to squeeze a perfect buttock
...
"How big is the probability?"
i ask myself
while drinking water at kitchen sink
In addition I decided to add some other things I enjoy in this life: plants, coffee, my favourite person and their perfect butt. In this comic, there is only one thing I absolutely hate: plastic bags.
After sketching my idea and being told to use even more daring angles, it was time to think about the medium and how to put things together. At home I played around with some watercolours, pencils and ink pens and found that watercolours achieve the visuals I was looking for and are a practical choice if I want to finish the project by the end of the week.
At school I made some coloured ink backgrounds and environment elements. The male character and everything related to shower was drawn with charcoal.
By the end of the week I was a proud owner of "Probability" which is probably one of my most favourite projects to this day.
