Regional Typographic Rebranding

What

Typographic rebranding of local and global brands to accommodate the regional script into the brand identity.

How

I first made sketches of the brand name in the local script on paper multiple times, until I was satisfied with the result.

Then I digitised the script in Adobe Illustrator using bezier curves, tweaking it until I was satisfied with the similarity to the English typeface.

Why

I notice that brands with a unique lettering identity in their English name usually fail to convert this style when translating the name to a local language. I try to hypothetically fix this in a series of scenarios.

It was also a lettering exercise in a non-English script, i.e. nothing I'd ever done before! I learnt how to work with bezier curves better, and furthered my sensitivities regarding a typeface and its relation with different letters.

When

Created in March, 2019.
