In this series, I drew various churches from observation using pen, marker, ink pencil, and watered-down gouache paint on 9" x 12" paper. I explored different ways of depicting light and depth, as well as conveying the architectural forms in an organic, personal way. I eventually moved into attempting to capture the churches through single lines on a page, moving through rather than just outlining the form.
