2019 Goal: Digital Painting
October - December
Goal: I wanted to be able to find my own method of digital painting. I didn't want to over render and have things really realistic, I still wanted to keep this animated/ cartoonish style that was special to me.
This was my first painting to my last painting of 2019.
All of these paintings were done with Procreate and a Apple Pencil. One of the new features that came out in 2019 was using text which allowed me to create this faux Snapchat over the original art piece.
I tried a lot of methods but the process that I found best for these illustrations was to make a loose sketch, flat colors, multiply layers to establish my shadows, then clean it up with painting over the layer, and finishing with rendering and highlighting.
Drawing requests of two followers of mine. The drawing on the left is going to be potentially used for publication when I last heard news from the winner which makes me very happy to hear.
Going into 2020 I wanted to practice on how to not over render and to know when enough is enough. I also want to be able to keep the flow and movement I originally have in the sketch but when it's rendered it starts to look stiff. Hoping to see how this project develops over time.
