Before Picture: Here you see a painted Metal Door, which leads to a deck from a Condo, Chicago IL. circa 2011
In Progress: The door was first given 2 coats of a gold base paint- alternating sections done at time, to cleanly achieve the proper grain directions.......
IN Progress: There is real Oak wood trim thru out the Condo-- and the Home Owners wanted these 2 doors to blend with the rest of the home. Great idea, and so fun to accomplish., done with under base gold paint, then matched brown glazing over lays.
In Progress: the outer trim & top finial are real Oak, the door is Faux, with middle panels to be fauxed last......
Tape off the sections to be worked, and here is glaze & combing layer one going on............
Voila! All sections have 3 glazes & a final clear top coat, which in this case is Satin-- could do gloss or matt when desired!
Detail of the hand grained Faux Oak.......
