“City of sounds” is a musical and interactive APP created by the Educational Department of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with the aim of describing, in an educational and entertaining way, the world of orchestra musical instruments. Four instrumental families have been created: Strings, Woodwinds, Brass and Percussions.

Each family has its own setting: the Brass are characters of a castle, the Strings are inhabitants of a house, the Woodwinds are animals in the pond and the Percussion are nice characters of a circus. Each musical instrument appears in the APP as a “humanized” drawing with a small animation. By clicking on the tool, a descriptive page opens with the possibility of seeing photos and videos of the real instrument played by a child of the JuniOrchestra of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

Musical instruments are the same in all the symphony orchestras of the world and knowing them will give children (and adults curious to learn through play) give the opportunity to expose them to the musical world with greater awareness, improving their listening skills and, perhaps for some, choosing a musical instrument to study and love for a lifetime.
