Kashmir Conflict

This is a visual essay about the duality of human nature, about how the desire for power leads to unimaginable actions and also how in the most horrendous and traumatic scenarios people regain their humanity, finding the power to hope and help each other.

The starting point for this project was the Kashmir conflict, and all the images used in this material are revolving around it.

The main focus is the daily drama of the Kashmiri people because they are the ones to suffer all the consequences but what they think, want and feel doesn't seem to matter at all in the big scheme of the greater powers.

We believe that this particular situation translates very well in a lot of different places and conjunctures around the world and all of us, humans, can relate at some level to the struggle to live a normal, peaceful life, in which you are valued as an individual.

We wanted to portray an image of the current situation in Kashmir from the point of view of someone who did not have direct contact with the conflict or the geographical location, but it's interested and wants to gain knowledge regarding this situation.

It's the point of view of the outside world, but an outside world that cares.

The copyright for the images is not our, the photographs are taken by photojournalists and photographers from all over the world, mentioned in the book.
