Pirarucu Pendant Lamp

Pirarucu | ADesign 2019

The Pirarucu pendant was designed for the lighting contest ADesign 2019 provided by Adhara Design in partnership with DSGN Selo, competing in the "Academic" category.

In the fresh Amazon waters, home of several species of fish, vegetation, colors and life, the Pirarucu stands out among the others with its pink and unconventional scales, being a reference for this project.
The initial idea was to create it in a way that would give presence in any room that was placed, serving as a unique and extremely striking design piece. The final shape of the pendant is quite exuberant, with colors that refer to the Amazonian rivers and the rosé scales found in pirarucu fish.
The main structure provides shape and support to the luminaire, and is made with fittings and screws that become part of the art object.

The materials of the scales are anodized aluminum in black and rosé. The remain scales are built in blue glass.
The light  source is a neon LED strip that takes the form of a capsule around the inside of the luminaire.
